This will get the rear-facing cargo lights on your Silverado, Sierra, Colorado, or Canyon tow mirrors to work as both a cargo light and a reverse lamp. They will also illuminate when you unlock the truck with the key fob at night as a courtesy lamp. The installation is very easy and takes less than 5 minutes while following our installation video.

Important Note: The lights must be properly operating as cargo only prior to installing this harness. If your lights aren't operating at all, then please contact us to assist in getting them working properly first.

How long does this take to install?

This is very easy to install and takes less than 10 minutes to install.

Will the cargo lights come on when I unlock the truck with my key fob?

Yes, as long as it is dark outside. The cargo lights will only illuminate if the ambient light sensor senses that it's dark outside.

Can I activate the cargo lights in drive, or only reverse?

This modification only activates them in reverse.

If you would like to have them activated in drive as well first add this to your cart, then add our cargo in drive harness to your cart by CLICKING HERE. These harnesses can be used in tandem - just stagger the taps on any shared wires.

Trying to install the 1844CX (dual function cargo and reverse lights) tap. My truck is 2024 GMC sierra denali with 6.2l engine. In the video, the wire in pin 7 is white and mine is blue with a white stripe. My white wire is in the bottom row on the left side. Do I follow the color or pin location? Have a photo but unsure how to send that.

Just want to clarify, will this only turn on the lights on mirror, not the hitch light and 3rd brake light cargo light? Only want the mirror lights to enable when in reverse (2023 Silverado)

This module will only affect the tow mirror cargo lamps for these trucks. 2019+ New Body Style vehicles will also need the specific module for bed cargo lamps.

When unplugging the bcm do you have to disconnect the battery so it doesn’t throw any theft codes? Or can you unplug it and just tap the wires?

The Dual function (cargo and reverse) wiring harness will turn on your center mount cargo lights in reverse between the years 2014-2018. The center mount cargo light will not turn on in reverse between the years 2019-2022.

Does this part work without having the cargo/reverse lights on the mirror? I have the early model GM tow mirrors that do not have the rear facing lights and would like to add this part to help with hooking up to fifth wheel.

For 2014-2018 1500 trucks and 2015-2019 2500/3500 trucks this mod also does the high mounted cargo light. For 19+ (new body) trucks, a separate mod is needed for the high mounted cargo light.
